On Tuesday the 16th of April many of our fellow students from Flinders University celebrated a monumental achievement: their graduation day. Graduates of Bachelor of Archaeology Degrees, Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Masters Degrees and Honours received their parchments surrounded by an auditorium full of family, friends and mentors.
As the culmination of many years’ hard work needs a good celebration, ArchSoc put on a post-graduation event in the Function Centre. Tables were filled with cheery graduates, families and friends and celebrations began as finger food and drinks were served by ArchSoc volunteers. The event saw many deserving graduates celebrate their achievements with their guests, fellow students and members of the faculty.
There were smiles all round as Head of Department, Professor Claire Smith and Emeritus Professor Vincent Megaw congratulated our graduates and commended their accomplishments. ArchSoc President, Andrew Wilkinson raised a toast to those that supported the graduates throughout their journey, including families, friends, and academic and professional staff of the Archaeology Department.
Flinders ArchSoc would like to thank everyone who contributed to the successful running of this event, and to everyone who attended to honour the graduates. Special thanks must go to the several members of the faculty that took time out of their busy schedules to come out to celebrate the graduates’ achievements at both the graduation ceremony and the post-graduation event.
To the graduates on behalf of the Flinders ArchSoc: along with our congratulations on your efforts throughout your studies, we wish you the best of luck in your future careers!
